I will keep this page as a running record of my Disney Audition experience.

July 20, 2011: Face Character Auditions

There were exactly 50 people, I was lucky number 13. :)

It was a character look-alike audition so the first thing they needed to see were our faces and smiles.

They took height, names, genders, and resumes/head shots first then lined us up numerically in 5 rows. The casting director took time to explain that while they were looking for face characters, all casted face characters would also have to work as costumed performers- and that that was HOT, SWEATY work. She also explained that they were looking for very specific characteristics. Each character has a different feature that they need to stand out in each actor portraying that character- eyes, nose, skin tone, chin, or even eyebrows. After this disclaimer, she looked at each row one at a time. Once the first row was in the front again, she called out numbers. “1, 2, 3, 13” !!!!

Those of us whose numbers were called got to stay. Sadly my roomie didn’t make it through this round. Only 11 of us got to stay. She went one by one talking to everyone asking a bit more information, are you in school, is this how tan you are normally, do you have any tattoos?

The girl to my left #3 was very tan, but naturally. The casting director wrote something (I think “Jasmine”) on her sheet. But then as an after thought she asked the girl if she had any tattoos and she said she did: ON HER STOMACH!!! Oops. The casting director crossed out what she had written. I was sad for her. Afterwards the girl said she hadn’t even considered being applicable for Jasmine.

After she spoke to everyone, she called a few of us out to talk individually- I was one of those. She gave me her card and said to come back in October when they’re having college program auditions. Even though it’s my senior year, they can’t really cast me as a regular cast member yet.

It was certainly an interesting experience, and I’m glad to know I have the right look! Wish I could have done a bit of dancing or whatever else the next step in the audition is, but oh well. My roomie and I will try again in October!

Just checked the audition webpage for October College Program auditions, there’s nothing in my city! So I’ve just e-mailed the casting director using her card, hopefully she can let me know what’s up.

October 15, 2011

The date came and went for when I was supposed to return and audition, but unfortunately I was in a show and so was unable to go audition! :(

So ends my Disney dreaming… for now. Who knows? Maybe a summer between grad school?
